At midnight, on July 15th/16th, I got my hands on a copy of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and I finally understood what I've found so seductive about being a part of fandom, all these years. That deep attachment to the characters, the anticipation, the suspenseful feeling you have when you turn each page, wondering if this will be the moment when everything goes pear-shaped, it's addictive. I started reading at 12:40, and didn't stop until 8:20am, and it was glorious.
The sixth book for me, went beyond my expectations. I loved the pacing, the characters, the entire feel of the book. I wont put any spoilers here, though I'll probably put up some theories in my
LJ in a few days time. But this new volume definitely cements my love for the HP series, rather than just the fanfiction that comes from it. Cheers, Rowling.

poignant and wistful...or was it pungent and wasteful?
